Philosophy
Drug addiction is a chronic disease and needs to be treated as such. We realize that the patients cannot be cured of addiction but can be managed just like any other chronic disease. We use a combination of medication and counseling techniques to help patients with their recovery. The patient’s long term recovery is our priority.
Mission Statement
The mission of Great Heights Family Medicine Narcotic Treatment Program is to provide the highest standard of care by using best practices to assist patients in recovery from opioid dependence and other drug abuse, thereby, facilitating their achieving a higher standard of living for themselves, their families, and helping them to become more productive members of the society.
Dr Fatoki became interested in the treatment of addictive disorders while working as the Medical Director of Health Professionals Limited, a company that provides health care to inmates. Through his duties he noticed that may of the inmates were repeat offenders and that the offenses were usually drug related. He also noticed that many inmates going through opioid withdrawal were not adequately treated whereas, those going through alcohol withdrawal were taken very seriously. In addition, there were hardly any treatment programs to help these inmates while incarcerated
He decided to get further training in the treatment addiction prior to starting his own opioid treatment program. He joined the American Society of Addiction Medicine, obtained his DATA 2000 waiver for the office treatment of Buprenorphine and set up his own Narcotic Treatment Program.
Dr Fatoki is currently pursuing a Master’s degree in Addiction studies.
